Privacy policy
Privacy isn’t the small print here — it’s the product. This page explains exactly what we hold, who sees it, and when.

Who we are
Broker Finder is a trading style of Collect Compare Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company no. 16514658). We are an introducer — not a lender or mortgage broker — and we are the data controller for the personal information described on this page. You can reach us about anything privacy-related at hello@findbroker.co.uk.
The short version
- Your questionnaire is anonymous. Brokers see your case as a numbered file (like “Buyer #4821”) — never your name, phone number or email.
- Your contact details are shared once, with the one broker you choose, and only when you ask us to make the introduction.
- We never sell your data, never pass it to marketing lists, and never share it with “selected partners”.
- Our analytics are first-party and cookieless — no advertising trackers, which is why you don’t see a cookie banner.
What we collect, and why
1. Your questionnaire (the anonymous part)
To match you with suitable brokers we ask about your situation: what you need (first mortgage, remortgage, buy-to-let or similar), approximate value and deposit bands, timing, how you earn, an indication of credit history, and the area of the UK you’re in. This is financial context, so we treat it carefully — it is stored securely and shown to brokers only in anonymous form, without anything that identifies you.
Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (providing the matching service), and our legitimate interest in operating the platform.
2. Your contact details (the part you control)
If — and only if — you decide to connect with a broker, we ask for your name, email and phone number so we can make the introduction. We pass them to that one broker, together with your case notes, so your first conversation starts from what you actually need. The other matched brokers never receive them; they are simply told the case has closed.
Legal basis: performing the service you asked for (making the introduction you requested).
3. Broker registrations
If you register a brokerage for our panel we collect your firm name, FCA reference number, contact details, specialisms, coverage areas and profile text, and we check your authorisation against the Financial Services Register. Approved brokers’ payment details are handled by Stripe (see below).
Legal basis: performing our agreement with your firm, and our legitimate interest in vetting the panel.
4. Contact forms and email
When you contact us we keep your message and reply history so we can help you. We use Resend to deliver transactional email (match confirmations, introductions, receipts).
5. Analytics (cookieless)
We measure site usage with our own first-party system. It records the page viewed, the referring site, a device class (mobile/desktop/tablet), country, and an anonymised daily visitor hash that cannot be reversed into your identity. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and builds no advertising profiles — which is why this site has no cookie banner.
Who we share data with
- The broker you choose — your contact details and case notes, at your request. From that point the broker is a data controller in their own right; their privacy notice governs what they do with your information, and they are authorised and regulated by the FCA.
- Service providers that run the platform under contract with us: Cloudflare (hosting and database), Resend (email delivery) and Stripe (broker payments only — consumers never enter payment details because the service is free for consumers).
- Nobody else. No sale of data, no marketing lists, no data brokers. We would disclose information if the law genuinely required it — that’s the only exception.
How long we keep things
- Questionnaires you never connect from: kept so you can return to your matches, deleted or fully anonymised after 12 months of inactivity.
- Introductions: kept for 6 years, because they support the contract between us and the broker (billing and the dud-replacement guarantee) and regulated firms’ record-keeping.
- Broker accounts and invoices: kept for 6 years after the relationship ends, as required for tax and accounting.
- Contact messages: kept up to 24 months, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email hello@findbroker.co.uk and we’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk — though we’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, stored with Cloudflare’s infrastructure inside access-controlled systems, and contact details are released only through the reveal flow you trigger. Payment card details never touch our servers — Stripe handles them end to end.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top; if a change is significant we’ll say so prominently on the site. We won’t quietly loosen anything the service is built on.
